He revived the Colchester Medical Society, started the Surgical Club with Sir Ogilvie. He founded the Private Oaks Hospital ôThe Oaksö at19 Lexden Rd, in 1949. He had two daughters and a son. The son gave way to drink and was seen in the tramp ward of the Colchester Union Workhouse (now St. MaryÆs Workhouse). Septimus Rodick got into the same habit and was always drunk if he had the money. Eventually, his heart failed and he died just as he was turning into Lexdon road, a few yards from his house. Elected to Colchester Medical Society in 1849, was President in 1858.
