pathological laboratory on 1940-42 at ECH. He went on to be Professor of 
Bacteriology, at London Hospital Medical College, studied the antigenic structure 
the members of the viral group. 
Education: He was educated at Marlborough College, went to Trinity Hall 
Cambridge then to St. GeorgeÆs Hospital in 1935. MS 1938

Puritan. He was imprisoned many times due to his views and had his ears cut off 
at the pillory.

Practice: He had many medical roles. He was a Physician at EC H 1843.     Retired 
as Surgeon Major with the honorary rank of Deputy Inspector General  RAMC in 
24.2.1872.  He had served in Tanauaki, New Zealand, as a medical officer taking 
part in expeditions against the Maoris. He also served in Abyssinia as principal 
medical officer to the British troops of the Second Division of the Expedition 
Force from 9.3.1868 to the end of the campaign when he was awarded a medal.

Extra information: Married in 1847 to Louisa Mitchell, a Red Indian ChiefÆs 
granddaughter and they had eight children, she died in Zante,(Greece)  He was

Peninsula War.                                                                                                                                 
Hon Surgeon ECH 1820-1830.  In 1834 he moved to Liverpool, where he was 
elected to the Town Council for the overseeing of drainage and sewers where he 
contracted typhus .

Naturalistö, wrote four books on æBirds in Europe not seen in GBÆ, and one on 
æThe Fallacies of DarwinismÆ. The Charles Bree Cup is awarded to Colchester 
Natural History Society members.

Sutton to inoculate against smallpox. In 1770 went to Barbados as inoculating 
surgeon . Elected to CMS  1776 (early member). ,Vice president of the Suffolk 
Society of Surgeons 1780 He took his brother John Bucke into partnership (lasted 
one year only) He married Miss Bumpstead (1772-1785)   then remarried to Miss 
Hill in 1790. His son was a marine on HMS Victory and died at Trafalgar.
