The Penfold archive contains many pieces of vintage medical and laboratory equipment which is safeguarded in a private collection at Colchester General Hospital.


We are grateful that students of Colchester's Sixth Form College photographed many items and these pictures from each of the six students who worked on the project are representative of the fascinating collection. Some photographs are included in the Colchester' s Caring Past exhibition.

The Photography Department is part of the Visual Arts Department at the Sixth Form College, North Hill, Colchester with four tutors, Andy Brooke, Chris Farndell, David Jeffreys and
Bel Hathaway. The students, nearly 200 each year, are studying A-level photography.  They study many aspects of photography using film and traditional darkroom techniques as
well as digital photography.
